If you think  that you can simply forget about these taxes because you are not a Spanish resident and someday will sell your home in the sun anyway, think again! The Spanish tax agency will check the books at the time of the property sale. They will then take the money from the sale and if you think you will pay it from the profit on the property interest will have been added at 10% over the years, and you may well be fined . You will also be required to present  the real estate tax receipts when you sign the sale contract. You may very well lose the sale as the buyers solicitor may advise them not to purchase property on which there is a debt owing, as that debt will be transferred to the new owner.

This Firm can act as your fiscal representative in Spain, notifying you annually of the Spanish taxes for non-residents, and arranging payment of these on your behalf on receipt of funds. We would require a copy of your Escritura, the IVA receipt showing the catastral value and a copy of your N.I.E certificate.
